First Birthday Party

We had a great time celebrating our little birthday girl! My parents got to join us since they were driving through town on their way to Oklahoma - we really enjoyed having them! We also invited the Gimotty's over which made for a nice little group for Sadie's first party! We did a little flower theme, nothing too over the top - that's for second birthdays, right? :)
Here's the cupcake bouquet I made for the flower theme

We started out by playing a little game of "pin the bumble bee on the flower". The Gimotty kids really enjoyed spinning their dad!
Here's Matty missing the entire poster board (let's just say he wasn't the only one!)
Sadie enjoyed watching and laughing at everyone!
Then it was time to open presents! She got some adorable and super fun gifts from everyone! Here she is with the kitchen we got her and the phone my parents got her. It was really fun to get a "girly" gift!

She's got this whole cooking thing figured out!
Then we ate supper and it was time for Sadie's birthday cake feast! On their first birthday, I make the kids a cake all for themselves and they get to just dig in!!
She was a little tentative at first, like - 'you want me to do what?!?'
But it didn't take her long to figure it out!

Sadie would've eaten the whole thing if we let her!
Case really did pretty well during the party. He helped bring the presents to Sadie and waited fairly patiently for her to open them and after much reminding, let her play with them! He led us all in singing Happy Birthday to Sadie (I think more than once), but then he did the cutest and funniest thing!

The whole process of Sadie eating the cake lasted probably at least five minutes while we all laughed and smiled and encouraged her to eat it. Case sat quietly and watched the whole event and when it was all over I heard a little, "Mama, look at me".

When we all turned to look at Case, he put his finger in his cupcake and smeared frosting all over his lips! He just smiled at everyone and kept doing it, as if to say, "is this what I need to do to get a little attention around here??" Almost like even he thought it was a little weird, but hey if that's what it would take, he'd do it! It was hysterical!!

Someone is 1!!!

Sadie turned 1 on June 3rd! Our sweet little baby girl is getting so big! She started walking about a week before her birthday and is learning how to keep up with Case and attempting to do everything he does.
Her personality has come out a lot more since she's turned one, she loves to be chased (she's seen Case do this so much and can finally participate!), she loves to be tickled, and still loves to snuggle. She is a crazy climber, even more than Case was (which says a lot!). She is very determined and teaches herself a lot of things. She taught herself how to climb down the stairs our second day in the house, she can climb up on the sofa and get down all by herself (as well as the coffee table and any chair in the house)! She loves the praise and attention she gets when she figures something out. She'll climb on the coffee table and look around at everyone in the room and laugh and clap for herself. Case and Sadie are playing together more and more each day which is such a joy to watch! At night they get kind of giddy and love to run around, squeal, fall down, wrestle and just be funny. She is getting more and more dramatic which can make it hard not to laugh at her! Her first word was "tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle" (probably because she hears Case say it all the time), and she now says "Dada" and "uh-oh", and I think she's pretty close to getting Sadie, she says "Daydee". We are definitely in the stage of, is that babble or is that really a word?? But those are the words she seems to use pretty accurately. She can still be very serious, especially with new people - staring them down before she'll give anyone a smile. And despite her new found walking abilities she still LOVES to be held - especially by me!
Sadie, we love you so much - you bring so much joy and laughter into our life!

Done with the crib!

A couple of months ago, we transitioned Case out of his crib into his toddler bed. Since then, we've found him sleeping in some interesting places...
