Family Movie Night
We had our first ever family movie night yesterday evening. It was so much fun! We watched the Pixar movie, Cars. It really is SUCH a cute movie, I had seen part of it and Matt had never watched it. We both LOVED it. But... our excitement didn't come close to matching the excitement of our car-loving Case! He ranged every where from running around in front of the tv saying "Car, Car!" to sitting with Matt saying, "tickle-tickle-tickle-tickle-tickle" super fast (his way of saying he's having a lot of fun) to being a super sweet snuggle bug with me! But maybe the best was this picture - don't worry we didn't let him sit here very long!

Sibling Love
We had no idea what to expect with regards to how Case would respond to Sadie. We have been blown away by how much he loves his little sister! It has been an absolute joy to see him interact with her. When he came to the hospital to see all of us, he was slightly interested in her, liked touching her nose and her hair, but then he was off to play with a balloon, run with Daddy or jump on my hospital bed! We were really glad that he was so good with her and he was fine when he had to leave the hospital. He'd come say bye to me, walk to the door, turn around and say, "Bye, Baby!" - it was super sweet! Here's some pics from the hospital!
I for one, LOVE the hospital. Best part of the c-section, I get to stay at the hospital for an extra day. I know so many people are itching to get home, but man, I feel like the hospital is a hotel!! They bring me food that I don't have to prepare or clean up after, they change my sheets everyday, they take the baby so I can sleep at night, how does it get any better?!
I did REALLY miss Case so that made me excited to get home, but I was thinking it would be pretty chaotic the first few days. I thought Case would have a hard time with me not being able to pick him up or play with him when I was feeding the baby.
Although he does sometimes like to sit right with me on the boppy while I'm feeding her, he does a great job of understanding when she's eating and he waits patiently for her to be done. He loves to just look at her, touch her, talk to her, bring her toys - he's just been unbelievable! As soon as he wakes up from his nap or comes home from playing at the park with Matt, he says, "Where da baby?" Matt and I have said that's easily the thing he has said most often over the last couple days, we love it!
His new favorite thing is to "hold the baby" he gets her blanket, sits on the couch, pats his legs and says, "Baby, Baby", over and over until we put her in his lap.
He actually does a great job! The first couple times, I held her head or had my hand on her body for support. He quickly realized what I was doing and would push my hands away and say, "No." He wants to hold her all by himself! We just couldn't ask for him to be a better big brother! Now we just hope he does as well when Matt goes back to work!
We got Case a present from Sadie... I don't think Matt could have picked a better present! We got him a basketball hoop! Besides "Where da baby", his other phrase we hear constantly from Case is "a hoop!" meaning he wants us to come play basketball with him. He's actually REALLY good at it, he's got great aim and even shoots with one hand.
We are loving being a family of four and have loved these days at home together!

And she's here!
Just like that - we checked in this morning, things went according to the timeline and here is our baby girl!
She is doing great, I am feeling great - much better than I did after my c-section with Case! So things are wonderful! We love her so much and can't wait for Case to meet her tomorrow!

The night before
The night before we had Case, we took some pictures of my belly. I was so glad we did because I think I seriously forgot how big I was.

So tonight we took the chance to take a few pictures of my belly since we are having our baby girl tomorrow by c-section at 7am!! Unbelievable!

Both Matt and I agree that I'm not quite as big as I was with Case - I definitely don't have quite as much amniotic fluid as I did with Case. But my belly is still pretty big and I am feeling it! I'm not looking forward to recovering from a c-section again, but I am looking forward to not being pregnant and best of all... meeting our baby girl!!
Are we ready seems to be the big question... ummm, no! But we sure are excited! I think most adventurous, challenging, humorous, etc will be how Case responds.

Summer Days
It is hot, hot, hot here in MN today! It was 96 degrees with a crazy amount of humidity. Not super fun for this 38 week pregnant lady. So the best thing to add to a day like today... water! We spent the afternoon at Maria's house, a little unexpectedly, so we didn't have a swim suit or anything for Case. That never stopped us - he had a great time playing with Penny and Layla. They ran through the sprinkler, played in a little pool and Case threw and chased balls to his little hearts content. I didn't have my camera, but I did have my iphone, so this isn't the best quality but I couldn't pass up posting it!

My Big Boy
Case is growing and changing so much, so quickly!! Our time left as just the three of us is going to come to an end so soon here, we're trying to make the most of it! He still has absolutely no idea that a baby is coming. He'll talk to my belly and say hi and bye to the baby, give the baby hugs and kisses, show the baby his cars, etc. But he also thinks there's a baby in his belly, daddy's belly, etc. Hopefully we're not confusing him for life :)
Case does have a new ADORABLE cousin who has been a very willing participant in getting Case used to babies! Jordan was born in January and Case couldn't possibly love him more! Here he is showing us the "caaar" on Jordan's shirt. We love Jordan and Case is definitely enjoying being a big cousin!
To say Case is into everything is a bit of an understatement! He is busy busy and very curious about everything. Some of his latest antics include getting the box of rice out of the pantry and dumping it into the dishwasher - I think he thought he was being helpful :) It wasn't the most exciting thing to clean up!
Another dishwasher incident landed us at the hospital for the afternoon! I had just emptied the dishwasher and was getting lunch ready in the kitchen. Case was playing with the empty dishwasher, and all of a sudden I saw something small in his hands, I went to bend down to see what he had and he popped it in his mouth and swallowed it! I was so shocked, he hasn't done anything like that before so I wasn't quite sure what to do. I knew it was a bit larger than a quarter and was white but I had NO idea what it was. I called his pediatrician who thought it would be best for him to come in and get some x-rays since we didn't know what it was that he swallowed. Here's some pictures from the afternoon - they were taken with my phone so they're not the best quality.
How cute is he in the little gown!?!
Case was HYSTERICAL the whole time at the hospital. He thought it was the greatest adventure ever! He got to run up and down the halls and run circles around the nurses desks - they all loved the distraction he offered. I wasn't able to go into the x-ray with him because of being pregnant. Do you think he cared - not one bit! The x-ray tech said in a completely shocked voice - "he may have been my best patient ever." Case was so intrigued he laid perfectly still for all the x-rays. They weren't able to see anything in the x-rays which meant whatever he swallowed was plastic which meant no concerns! I realized later what it was. I had washed one of our tupperware tops that had a little "fresh seal" flip top thing and it was mysteriously missing so I figured it had come out in the dishwasher and Case had found it.
If you read this blog at all, you know that Case LOVES balls - here is one way I keep him happy while attempting to shop!
Case is talking more and more, he even has a few sentences! He says, "Where'd it go?", "Where's the car?" and "I fall down" - which he does a lot! Whenever he hurts himself, gets a bump, falls on the ground, runs into the wall, etc... he always tells you the story after he's done crying. It's really cute! He reenacts it and everything.
He's such a fun little buddy! We can't wait to see him be a big brother! We are scheduled to have our little girl by c-section (because I had a c-section with Case) on June 3rd if she doesn't come on her own before that! So less than a month - unbelievable!
